Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe has signed House Bill 2934, landmark legislation that merges the management of two of Downtown’s most vital assets—The Dome and America’s Center—under a single governing authority. This consolidation streamlines oversight and governance while improving funding mechanisms for both facilities.
“House Bill 2934 unites two outstanding boards under one leadership structure, fostering stronger partnership opportunities and setting the St. Louis region on a trajectory toward expansion, economic investment, and sustained prosperity,” Governor Kehoe stated.
Under the new legislation, a unified board of directors will oversee both venues with balanced governance: equal voting power distributed among the State of Missouri, City of St. Louis, and St. Louis County.
Key Takeaways:
Both The Dome and America’s Center serve as economic engines for the region, drawing visitors from nationwide to participate in major sporting events, conventions, and conferences.
The legislation streamlines administrative operations, eliminates duplicative systems, and establishes ongoing funding to maintain and upgrade The Dome while maintaining current tax levels.
Brad Dean, President and CEO of Explore St. Louis, remarked: “Coordinated management of both America’s Center and The Dome enables us to function with greater efficiency, bid more competitively for premier events, and guarantee these important community resources continue generating substantial economic and social benefits for St. Louis.”
